    COIMBATORE FASHION FEST 2018, a designer’s contest, that highlights creativity of individual designer,was held on Friday, September 7th at Hindustan college of Arts and Science,Coimbatore from evening 5 pm to 10 pm.. Over 100 designers from around 25 colleges all over Tamil Nadu have taken this stage as a platform to showcase their individual creativity by launching their individual attire with a distinct label. The main objective of this program being the part of this premium fashion event for empowering women. The event highlighted a total of 88 designer’s outfit in 11 sequences. Designers from various colleges and institutes as well as professional designers have competed in three categories: Indian Ethnic, Indo-Western and Western to bring a rich collection of colors, silhouette, fabrics and styles. A total of 9 students from Ist year & 3 rd year Apparel Fashion Designing course of NIFT-TEA College of knitwear fashion have participated in this event. They have designed 5 individual designer outfits in western and ethnic categories. The collections were comprises of the effective usage of fabric, color scheme, silhouette and rich embellishments. Mr.S.Nageshwaran and Ms. S.Nafisha, students from I year Apparel Fashion Designing department has won the special award for the best garment and stylish presentation. They designed a classical western knitwear garment inspired by ‘human eyes’. It was an asymmetrical garment made of Scuba Air heavy cloth (sandwich) and spring plain plating cloth. Both the designers were inspired by human eyes and the theme which shows the garment blows away the darkness and allows bright light which can focus all the happiness on earth. It is the only garment in the show which was designed by using knits fabric and embroidery on it. Other students were given participating certificates.
